Re: CRF2 Best of the 60’s Poll: Results!!

I had forgotten about that. Lot of great albums there. Good to see The Kinks on the list (albeit in 25th place) but I am surprised VGPS didn't make it. I love Neil Young's Everybody Knows... but I was shocked to see it at #2.

I would like to thank all those who put Oddesey & Oracle on their list, for the rest of you may you be pelted with moldy oranges.

By the way, I have every album in the top 25 except 1. Care to guess which one?

yeah, I've heard all except one too...guesses?

my guess would be that me and zombeels share the one, but I might very well be wrong.

Yes, I was surprised (and very pleased!) about Neil Young being so high too. I think the key was that he didn't split votes between albums..everyone that had him on their list pretty much voted for the same album. Splitting votes hurt a lot of other artists (including The Beatles) but especially Bob Dylan. A lot of us had Dylan albums in their top 10 but their were at least 5 different one's chosen so the votes were split.

VGPS just missed the cut. Here is the rest of the top 50:

26. The Kinks – Village Green Preservation Society
27. Jimi Hendrix – Axis: Bold As Love
28. The Rolling Stones – Aftermath
29. The Beatles – A Hard Day’s Night
30. Bob Dylan – The Freewheelin’ Bob Dylan
31. The Beach Boys – Pet Sounds
32. Jimi Hendrix – Electric Ladyland
33. The Who – The Who Sell Out
34. The Yardbirds – Roger the Engineer
35. The Beatles – Help!
36. Crosby, Still & Nash - Crosby, Still & Nash
37. Jeff Beck Group – Truth
38. Santana – Santana
39. The Doors – Strange Days
40. The Flying Burrito Brothers – The Gilded Palace of Sin
41. CCR – Green River
42. Jethro Tull – Stand Up
43. Buffalo Springfield – Buffalo Springfield Again
44. The Pretty Things – SF Sorrow
45. Van Morrison – Astral Weeks
46. The Velvet Underground – White Light/White Heat
47. The Byrds – Mr. Tambourine Man
48. The Kinks – Arthur
49. The Band – Music From Big Pink
50. The Velvet Underground - The Velvet Underground

Re: CRF2 Best of the 60’s Poll: Results!!

nice list I've only not got one either although mine is the Kinks which I know isn't Zombeels.

My guess is Zombeels doesn't have the Band album.

Re: CRF2 Best of the 60’s Poll: Results!!

Nice list. More Dylan albums than I would have expected. Actually the entire list is somewhat unpredictable and thats nice for a change.

Cant argue with that #1 choice either.

Nice job posting these. Only group on the list that I don't care for is the Velvet Underground.

That's why we all just need to agree that Bringing It All Back Home is his best and rank it accordingly.

I was actually surprised it sank to #10 when it seemed so high on more lists than I expected. Also surprised to see Neil at 2 but I dig it. Overall a solid list and a little more varied than one would expect. Different is good. In the online world of ranking your favorite artists by height, weight and where they were born it's refreshing to see some alternate takes.

Good on CRF2 and thanks to bobbyg for putting in the time.

On to the 70's? Oh boy.

Great list and great job bobbyg. That list was nothing like my list but they never are. Cant beleive "Pet Sounds" and "The Sound of Silence" didn't make it.

Yep, I will set that up in a couple days. When that's done I have a crazy idea for a tournament based on all the polls we have done (insert evil laugh).
