CRF2 Best of the 90s Poll: Results!!

CRF2 Best of the 90s Poll: Results!!

OK, in an effort to get this finished I have decided to take a short cut and only use the top 20 from everyones lists. If someone wants to go back and do the calculations with the full lists, go for it

You can see everyones lists here: https://crf2.com/showthread.php?t=33795

Scoring was a follows: For each list, #1 was awarded 110 points, #2 was awarded 105 points, #3 was awarded 102,5 points, #4 was awarded 100, #5 was awarded 97,5 #6 was awarded 95 and then one point less for each place (#7=94, #8=93 etc etc).

And here we go the top 20 albums of the 1990s according to CRF2.

#20 Alice in Chains Dirt (291 points)
#19 Sigur Rs - gtis Byrjun (292 points)
#18 Neil Young & Crazy Horse Sleeps with Angels (295 points)
#17 Soundgarden Superunkown (296 points)
#16 Jane's Addiction - Ritual de lo Habitual (305 points)
#15 U2 - Achtung Baby (306 points)
#14 Neutral Milk Hotel - In The Aeroplane Over The Sea (307.5 points)
#13 The Black Crowes The Southern Harmony and Musical Companion (308 points)
#12 My Bloody Valentine-Loveless (317.5 points)
#11 Radiohead The Bends (330 points)

And now for the top 10

Yay for In Utero!

Can't believe that waste-of-space Metallica album made the top ten though

Re: CRF2 Best of the 90s Poll: Results!!

Aeroplane not even in the top 10? Preposterous. In Utero at number one? Quite unconventional, but excellent. We recently did a best albums poll on a Nirvana board I go to and In Utero was the only Nirvana album the vast majority of people included on their list. It's clearly their most mature effort and I think it far outshines the other three studio albums as well as Unplugged.

Re: CRF2 Best of the 90s Poll: Results!!

The list turned out a lot better than I was expecting. Nevermind probably should be number 1 from a historic standpoint. But I guess Nevermind = Sgt Pepper while In Utero = Revolver. Thats the CR2 style. Even though the release order is opposite...and Nevermind was light years more importent than In Utero.

Re: CRF2 Best of the 90s Poll: Results!!

Ten isn't one of my all time favorite albums, but I'm glad it's ahead of OK Computer. Mostly because I know how much of a sacred cow that Radiohead album is to most diehard Radiohead fans. And, let's be honest, most diehard Radiohead fans are annoying.

Kind of a shame that a Breeders album didn't make the top 20. Still, a good list and a good job compiling it by those involved.

Re: CRF2 Best of the 90s Poll: Results!!

I didn't expect "In Utero" to be the winner but at least it's more original than "Nevermind"

I like the results, most of my favourite albums are in the Top20, the only one I miss is "Soup".

And I have to say it again, thanks guys for the hard work

Re: CRF2 Best of the 90s Poll: Results!!

I wish I had been around in time to get a list in for this. Looks pretty good, though I wish Definitely Maybe had at least cracked the top 20.

Good list but disappointed to not see Ragged Glory. The '90s kicks the '80s ass!

Yeah, I'm not sure how Sleeps With Angels got on there ahead of Ragged Glory. I'm pretty sure it wasn't even on my list. I mean, I'm glad to see it there, but my opinion of that album didn't make a jump until a couple of weeks ago when I burned a copy without all the acoustic songs. I mean, the acoustic tracks are genuinely good, but the electric tracks (plus Driveby and minus Piece of Crap) are great. So when I made that CD-R I listened to it and I was like "Holy shit, this is incredible."
