Steve Miller rips Rock and Roll Hall of Fame moments after his induction

"They need to respect the artists they say they're honoring, but they don't"

Steve Miller was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame on Friday night. Rather than revel in the honor, however, the classic rocker spent most of the night ripping the Hallís organizers.

During his induction speech, Miller criticized the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame for its lack of female inductees. When asked to expand on his comments in a post-induction interview, Miller responded, ďThe whole process needs to be changed from the top to the bottom. ďThey need to get their legal work straight. They need to respect the artists they say theyíre honoring, but they donít.Ē

He also took issue with his own treatment. Miller alleged to only receive two tickets to tonightís ceremony, one for him and one for his wife. For additional tickets, Miller said he would have had to pay $10,000.

I could think of a few female artists I would put in the R&R Hall Of Fame before Steve Miller, that's for sure. And a few male ones too.

If you can find some artists with as many classics as Steve Miller...let us know.

How about Jethro Tull and Yes for starters?

Re: Steve Miller rips Rock and Roll Hall of Fame moments after his induction

All those great bands (inc. Jeff Lynne) should have been in years ago. I thought you were talking about solo acts (with focus on hit singles).

How about this....if CSN can be in, how about ELP?

Electric Light Orchestra the band should be in, meaning Bev Bevan, Richard Tandy, Kelly Groucutt, Mik Kaminski, Hugh McDowell, Mel Gale, Louis Clark, Mike de Albuquerque, Wilfred Gibson, Mike Edwards and Roy Wood, not just Jeff Lynne all by himself, then Steve Miller was also not a solo act, his hit singles or albums were almost always credited as "Steve Miller Band" with Boz Scaggs being among famous former members!

Only Steve was inducted but the late Norton Buffalo should have been included and maybe Lonnie Turner

You're welcome, by the way, ELO has twenty US Billboard Top 40 hits, Steve Miller Band only had 9.

Which means absolutely nothing as far as induction into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame is concerned.

I know, but the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame makes it mean something when they want to, just like their claim about influence upon other musicians, then also impact on music industry history, besides zen was wondering about artists with as many classics as "Steve Miller Band"!

Re: Steve Miller rips Rock and Roll Hall of Fame moments after his induction

While I agree the music business is messed up and yes the music execs made tons of money. However, its not like Steve miller didn't make money. S Miller made close to 80 million dollars making music. I don't any more sympathy for him then the music executive. If you spent the 80 million then go out any F*ing tour. Ticket prices have gone thru the roof and people are still selling tickets esp. the old timers.

In regards to the rock and roll hall of fame. The entire group of people who decide on what goes in should be fired. Secondly, stop calling it the rock and Roll hall of fame, call it the music hall of fame already as they let in artists from any form that isn't jazz, country or classical. Secondly, the people in charge need to get their head out of their ass and stop thinking the only music they put in is what they like. They also need to learn what the word influence means! You can't claim every top guitarist that came after Jimi Hendrix was influenced only by Jimi Hendrix.
