Re: Obscure Music: Rock, Jazz, etc
I like that Gracious album. Sounds good. Might have to pick that up.
Probably not real obscure, but I just got this CD and have been digging it. Features Blondie Chapman and Ricky Fataar who would later join the Beach Boys. The album was the only non Beach Boys album recorded on their Brother Records Label.

Re: Obscure Music: Rock, Jazz, etc
Dreams is not really 'obscure' but when talk of fusion comes up they are rarely mentioned. Even though they may be one of the more important groups of the pre-fusion (early 70s) era.

Re: Obscure Music: Rock, Jazz, etc
Good lp....but I always had higher hopes for them considering the lineup of players...the second lp has a cool cover painting by Gahan Wilson.

Re: Obscure Music: Rock, Jazz, etc
The album cover was about the only cool thing going on with the second album. The second album was a complete miss (imo). The second album was a big let down after the amazing first album.

Re: Obscure Music: Rock, Jazz, etc
I've probably mentioned this one on the site before, but I love this album. Its spearheaded by Andrew Gold and is mostly a tongue and cheek attempt at mimicking bands like the Beatles, Beach Boys, Doors and others, but it turned out awesome.
Rainbow People is my favorite off the album, but its under Andrew Gold on youtube for some reason.

Re: Obscure Music: Rock, Jazz, etc
Obscure late-1980's duo from the UK called Big Bam Boo.
Fun, Faith, & Fairplay (1988) was their only album. They released 3 singles from it, "Shooting From My Heart" being the highest charter in the US, peaking at #21 on the Mainstream Rock chart. The harmony's are just incredible here, and with that big '80's sound, "Shooting From My Heart" should have done better than it did. But that's rock and roll, I guess. The album is a pretty solid offering, too. These guys were talented, but didn't make it past their first album. Check 'em out: "Shooting From My Heart" - Big Bam Boo (1989) "Fell Off A Mountain" - Big Bam Boo (1988) "If You Could See Me Now" - Big Bam Boo (1989)

Re: Obscure Music: Rock, Jazz, etc
Speaking of Dukes of Stratosphere, how about some Zombies of the Stratosphere. Their album 'In Technicolor' is really good. Love 'Mr. Fairfax'.
