Re: Your Next Concert Will Be ..........

Just got tickets for Ian Anderson at the Ryman in Nashville in October. In addition to playing "the best of Jethro Tull," he's going to do his new album Homo Erraticus from start to finish.

Wish people wouldn't schedule concerts in the middle of the week, though. Guess I'm also creeping into the old-fart camp.

I just secured a ticket for Kraftwerk at the United Palace in New York City this Tuesday, April 1, 2014. I've been trying to see these guys for years.

Re: Your Next Concert Will Be ..........

I have a couple of shows coming up in the next couple of weeks. I'll be seeing Jason Isbell for the 2nd time this year on September 5th and Vintage Trouble on September 10th. I'm a huge Isbell fan and he was top notch when I saw him back in February, so I'm pretty stoked for his show.

I don't know a lot about Vintage Trouble, but I was offered the tickets for free, so I'll definitely go. I've listened to their debut album and think it's good. I love the singer's voice and they are great instrumentally. Some of the lyrics leave a bit to be desired, but nothing that I thought was cringeworthy. Regardless, I've heard that their live show is great, so I'm looking forward to it.

I'm taking my wife to see Fleetwood Mac in October as a late birthday gift. I saw them on one of their past couple of tours without Christine McVie and while they were good, they were kind of boring. Lindsey was the only one that performed with any fire. My wife is a huge fan and want's to hear "Landslide" in person, so I ponied up. It'll be cool to see them with Christine this time.

Re: Your Next Concert Will Be ..........

Saw Fleetwood Mac last night. Our seats were pretty far back as we went with the "cheap" option at $90 or so, but it was a great show nonetheless. They were in fine form and it was good to see Christine back with them.

Saw a folk duo from Chapel Hill, NC called Mandolin Orange the past Friday night. Very nice sound. Their vocal blend was lovel. Both that and the Fleetwood Mac shows were mainly for my wife.

I'm seeing Wilco this Thursday evening. Very pumped to see them again. I haven't seen them since the Kicking Television tour.

Rush, Greensboro, NC on May 28th.

Interestingly enough, Rush is the only band I will have seen at least once in 5 straight decades.

I've got a few of those (although mostly solo artists)
Bob Dylan
Neil Young
Peter Gabriel
The Allman Brothers
John McLaughlin (several different lineups)

two musicians in different bands:
Phil Lesh (Grateful Dead, Phil and Friends, The Dead, others)
Adrian Belew (Zappa, Bowie,Talking Heads, King Crimson, The Bears, Adrian Belew Trio)

If I see Jorma this decade he can join the list.

Re: Your Next Concert Will Be ..........

Thursday night I saw Mudhoney and The sonics. First show I've been to in a long time.

I've seen Mudhoney before and they put on a great show. Dan Peters pounds on the drums and Mark Arm still sounds great. They aren't as active on stage as they once were but the music sounds great.

I didn't really know what to expect from the sonics. I only knew a couple of their songs and they're putting out a new album FIFTY years after their first. They are not young men. They put on a fantastic show. They still crank out good garage rock. The Witch was delightfully heavy live. They had a couple of guests - Mark Arm joined for a song or two, Chris Ballew from the Presidents sang one, and Krist Novoselic played bass on one. The towering Krist made a marked contrast to the far less verticle bassist for the sonics. Good show!

Rush tomorrow. Perhaps for the last time.

Anticipation and regret all rolled into one.

1979, 1981, 1983, 1997, 2007, 2015.

5 straight decades.
