Re: Obscure Music: Rock, Jazz, etc

When the Purps weren't afraid to dabble, the accompanying film maybe obscure to some(?)... There is also a video to Hush shot in Stuttgart in the same can.
April is brilliant, Gillan didn't care none for this kinda vibe.

Deep Purple - April.

For some reason I never became a big fan but they did some great tracks for sure.
Here's obscure for you....have one of their songs on a pysch comp...........'Episode Six'-Gillan and Glover..who of course ended up in Purple .In June 1969 Ritchie Blackmore and Jon Lord came to see Episode Six play live in London, and then offered Gillan a job in Deep Purple.while 2 of the other gents went to form Quatermass.

... slightly reflective tonight and have this on the turntable... piped through the handy dandy headphones, a fine album and song, assisted by Peter Hammill.. sadly the main lyricist Joanna Walton (as was Paul Jeffrey's) of Cockney Rebel was murdered by Gaddafi and his mob when the Pan Am flight blew up over Lockerbie in Scotland. Not a piece of vinyl one sees a lot of... sadly.

Robert Fripp - Chicago.

@dr wu, thanks man... the guests as stated are literally a who's who!
Shame Hammill & Fripp didn't tour or do a full project together.

Might have been interesting....Fripp played guitar on a couple of early VDGG albums.
Fripp starts at 5:15 on this one....he also plays on the classic Pawn Hearts lp.

He also does the guitar on all the tracks on Fools Mate...Hammills first solo lp.

... ideal ceiling painting music (ask me how I know?).. the bass on this album is knockout... it's Wilbur Bascomb who appeared on Jeff Beck's Wired album. This whole LP from the 70's is excellent... probably in the $1 bin!

The Mysterious Flying Orchestra - Summer Days.

It sounds like what I get when on hold with some service providers.

But I'll see if its in any of the cut out bins next time.

Re: Obscure Music: Rock, Jazz, etc

Exactly dr wu!
Sometimes you have to play something different, as what is on the shelves just becomes boring. I was a devil for purchasing those cut out or drill through albums back then. I put this on today because Eno's Music for Airports was just too quiet in aiding me with the 'Bob Ross action'...

On German Charisma label, sleeve is a tad tired.. but plays well-just like Mel Collins on this JJ Cale cut (Claptons 1970 offering started me off!)

Graham Bell - After Midnight.

... imagine Fripp, Eno, Caravan and Quiet Sun.. driven on by Robert Wyatt... well it's all on this album. I have their first release on CD... but I do prefer this, their second album....be it though 'little and red'.

Matching Mole - God Song.
