These guys often get put into prog rock but they are just great melodic hard edged blues rock.

Hmmmm. I wouldn't really characterize Wishbone Ash's music as hard edged blues rock.

Once again, your definition of "prog" is very exclusive/exclusionary. What then are your own key defining factors? I don't want a cut-and-paste of someone else's definition. I'm asking because your list seems to exclude both the organ driven Doors and the synth dominated Cars and I would think keyboard driven music would be one of the defining characteristics of prog.
