The who- only two left and saw them in their prime and past their prime, no need to see them again.

Van halen, kiss - never been a fan
Aerosmith - past prime and seen them before. Also not much of a fan.

I can't comment on the last three (Van Halen, KISS and Aerosmith) since I'm not a big fan either, and plus I have never seen any of them in concert.

The first two (The Rolling Stones and The Who) were excellent bands in their prime, but they both ran out of gas many years ago.

I wouldn't see and of those bands live but I can understand people going. I also see it from the band side of things, if you can still make money then it's okay with me.

I've got more problems with bands that have one or no original members and try to use a band name to sell tickets.
Basically tribute bands. I can understand the casual fan shelling out big bucks for these acts because they are unaware but those who know all the original or important members are gone should know better. I know it's their money but you have ask them why they are being so stupid.

Like I said, attach the name of their classic rock heroes and common sense goes out the window for some.

Except for Kiss, those are 4 of my all time favorite bands. And I wouldn't go see any of them for free. Kinda like your high school girlfriend. I've got fond memories, but I wouldn't want to date her now! 😀

As far as retiring, if I was them and people kept showing up, I'd keep going till I dropped.

Thanks for saying that. I just saw the Rolling Stones for the first time and it was worth it to me to see this venerable group.

Exclamation Re: 5 Bands That Should Retire (Now)

Good stuff! I'm glad to hear that you enjoyed your outing. From accounts like yours I get the impression that the vast majority of the fans attending Stones' concerts these days believe that they received full value for the money they spent and are pleased that they attended.

I've also heard that the concerts the Stones played in their first couple of years sucked in comparison. I guess early on they all huddled together on stage like frightened schoolboys. Their TAMI Show performance from October 1964 looks pretty good to me though:

Oh, it was awesome! I never thought I would get to see them. I saw them in Milwaukee the day before their big Summer fest opened up. It was great, because they wanted people to come early and party. I live in Northern Illinois so it wasn't that far, but the traffic was a mess. It was STILL worth it, and we had great seats also.

If you think their awesome now you should have seen them in their prime.

Question Re: 5 Bands That Should Retire (Now)

When do you think their prime was?

I'm saying 1966, or if I have to stretch it out I'd say the 1965-69 years.

That would be my guess also.

I wish I could have, along with the Beatles.
