Dave Grohl on the ‘Nirvana Aesthetic’

Kurt Cobain is and will forever be known as Gen X’s tortured musical genius who left us too soon. While all of that is true, former Nirvana drummer and friend Dave Grohl says there was more to Cobain than the public got to see. Grohl characterizes Kurt Cobain as funny and says being in Nirvana was fun.

Re: Dave Grohl on the ‘Nirvana Aesthetic’

That's always been the impression I've gotten. Kurt was a perpetual prankster just constantly raising hell. And their music was never even half as depression-heavy as a band like Alice in Chains, which was constantly doing dirges. The fact that he killed himself throws off the impression of balance. Nirvana always had the yin and yang of being manic and depressive.
